Great Hall Hug

Posted by jdg | 3:41 PM | ,

At this point in every long cold winter, we end up spending a lot of time at the art museum. Sometimes it seems like we're the only ones there, and I let them run around this big room a bit. They love it.This day, I managed to catch them hugging like that right where they met in the middle.

I see this guy every once in awhile (he even posed for me once) but I like these kind of shots better, and it shows the back of his incredible coat. I like how the girl is checking it out too. He must have so much fun showing that thing off all day.

Desire Path in Winter

It's often easier to see all the desire paths after a light dusting of snow. This sign my have once said something about the community garden sitting fallow there on the right.

Ice-scraper Detroit

The poor guys doing that ice house art project struggled all week to use hoses (and eventually a city fire hydrant) to get their house to freeze attractively in a constant battle with the sun. Meanwhile, down at the demolition site of the 1926 Lafayette Building, the guys from Adamo Demolition unintentionally turned the ground floor of the old skyscraper into an "ice house" simply by using the mist machines that keep down toxic particles during the demolition process. I love that bit of lovely old ornament peeking out from behind the slipcover and the ice.

I bought her that birthday shirt and skirt from the big sale at Eliza Gran's etsy shop. Her mom knitted her a dress that we hope to share soon on Woodcraft.

@ Calder Dairy, verbatim:

"Are your little hands cold, sweetie?"

"Yeah."

"Here, I'll warm them up."

Two frames later she saw me taking pictures, smiled, and stopped.
