Summer Time
I felt like such a pervy creeper after taking this photo in Kingston, Ontario, but I swear I was mostly interested in the sculpture (Time, by Kosso Eloul). Still, there was something kind of magical about watching all the Canadians shed down to shorts and t-shirts (and in some cases, bikinis) for what seemed to be the first nice day of the year (last Monday). Throughout Toronto and the rest of Canada we kept noticing plants in bloom that had faded weeks before in Detroit. Then, when I was listening to one of the five public radio stations in Canada with shows that involved readers calling in to discuss their favorite books (seriously) with surprisingly polite radio hosts, I heard one of the callers from Alberta say she was excited because the snow had finally melted. Welcome, summer.
